Confidence Is Key
My definition of confidence is the feeling when you have firm trust in the reliance upon yourself or another being. If I lacked confidence, I would not be where I am at today. I know that because without confidence, I would not of been able to step forward onto the paths I have chosen to follow still this day. Paths where I was scared that if my choice was not correct, they would lead me to a dead end forbidding success in my life. Confidence is the key factor that plays a major role in my actions, self-esteem and decisions.

My decisions throughout my life have shaped me into the person that stands in front of you today. Every decision needs to be influenced by confidence before it is put action. My life used to consist of school, work, football, basketball and at the same time, baseball. Sports took up pretty much all my time overlapping with school causing my grade point average to remain right below a 3.0. My family dropped far too much money into combines and camps for me to travel too and try to get my name out to big colleges. Year after year I would get looks but nothing as big as I wanted. I needed to make a choice soon before my time was swallowed up by sports and causing rejection of acceptance from the colleges because of my bad grades. I knew that my schedule was far too busy with sports so I needed to keep one sport to focus on and give up the other two. I knew that I needed to choose the right sport that would be most enjoyable for me in college and that I was most likely to succeed in. This decision needed to be perfect or else it could be a huge risk to my future. My dad and I talked it over agreeing to drop football and basketball and keep baseball. I needed confidence to accept this decision and go tell my coaches that I was not going to be playing their sport transitioning into college.

My confidence was high after this choice now going into my senior baseball season. I had a scared feeling that I was giving up success in the other two sports, but I trusted myself that I could succeed in baseball, knowing that it was the sport I had the most talent for. I worked hard in baseball all spring and summer. Also, I managed to have time to work and make money towards college. I would not of had time to work as much as I did if I kept playing football and basketball. Kent State University told me that I could walk on to their baseball team next year if I got my grades up my first year at Columbus state and knocked out all of my core classes. I am now proceeding down the path I chose all because the confidence I had towards my decision to focus on one sport.

Having self confidence is a great trait to have. Over time I have began to gain more and more self confidence. I gained my confidence just by forcing myself to get involved with sports and activities. Being involved in these activities will put yourself around peers and elders. As an example, when I first started high school sports after switching school districts It was hard to play for new coaches. I needed to change my friend group and my style of play. By doing good in practices and two a days I had the coaches attention. Here and there players and coaches would give me compliments over average catches or runs. Almost so many It was unneeded. My point is when I surrounded myself in sports and activities with nice people; It shot my confidence up by their compliments. Their compliments and inspiring comments influenced me to go harder on the field and believe in myself to start a new season with new people.

All together confidence plays a key role in everything I do. Confidence is the trait that gives me strength to put my beliefs, actions, and decisions to work. Without confidence I would not be where I am today. I have chosen the rights paths to follow throughout high school transcending into my college career. It has given me opportunities to take my baseball talent to the next level and also has shown others that I can do whatever with confidence! Have confidence in everything you do and be confident in your decisions and it will give you success in life.
