Every person has a time and a place where they are needed to help somebody who in need of help. There are two choices you can make at the scene; watch and let somebody else do what needs to be done, or jump in and do whatever it takes to save someone's life. Any thing can happen to anyone. When these emergencies happen you will find out who's really there for you and whose not.
This spring I was juggling school, friends, and baseball. I was never home. When I was I would just come home to grab clothes or a bite to eat. My parents barely ever saw me and I barely ever saw them. My mom was a manager at a furniture store in Easton named Kitchen Tables and Co. She was never home and my dad was in and out of the home just how I was.
Just another afternoon, I was hanging out at my girlfriends house where I practically lived. I was watching a comedy on my laptop. I had work at 5pm later that day. I already planned ahead on bringing my work clothes with me the night before knowing that I would be there all day the next day. I wanted to just relax but I had that weird stomach feeling just knowing that I had to get up and go to work. An hour before work, for some strange reason I decided to go home just because I felt like I have not been there for a while. Going home is the opposite direction from work and would cost me extra in gas but I did it any way. I walked outside to my car and almost started sweating after five steps because of the heat that day. It was so hot I could feel burning on my skin just from being exposed to the suns powerful rays. My car was like a toaster once I sat down in my seat after it was outside all day getting slammed by rays. I quickly started my car and zoomed out of her neighborhood. My hand was out the window breaking the winds path causing it to resist my hand from moving forward.
I arrived at my house pulling next to my dads car into my moms spot. When my car came to a stop I felt the heat again. I ran inside feeling like I was walking into a refrigerator because my dad had the air conditioning on full blast. Nothing seemed unusual it felt like a normal day. Me and my brother went into my room which was right down the hall from my parents room. We shut the door and started playing a game football on our Xbox. I knew work was soon so I just attempted on squeezing in a quick game.
We were almost finished with are game and I heard a faint noise in a room in my house. I paused the game. I heard my dad saying the word "help" very quietly from his room. I told JJ to see what he needed. JJ ran to his room and looked into the bathroom. His faced turned from happy into a confused look. I walked into the bathroom to see my dad sprawled out in his boxers laying on the floor vomiting. I told JJ I would handle it so I ordered him to go back to our room so he did. I quickly asked "dad are you alright?" He could barely move. I took out my phone and said I'm going to call 911. He begged me not too and said he's just sick and felt dizzy and just needed water. For some odd reason I did not listen to my dad and called 911. I told the lady what was going on and to send a couple paramedics. Seeing my dad like this honestly made me sick to my stomach. He is a strong man who doesn't ever ask for help with anything.
The paramedics arrived and I told them where he was. They did not hesitate to put him on a stretcher and get him to the ambulance. They told me the hospital they were headed too so I quickly called my mom and told her to leave work and head there. I got a call so I went to the bathroom and picked up. It was my mom, she told me that dad had a stroke in the back of his brain and that was why he was feeling dizzy earlier. She told me that it was coming on him slow and that if I didn't call when I did he would be affected horribly.
Doctors said that if I waited to call any later he would of lost parts of his brain causing paralysis on the whole right side of his body. If I did not go home that day for no reason my dad probably would not be here now. My brother listens to my dad on everything and if he told JJ not to call, he wouldn't. Somebody was watching over my dad that day and sent my there to handle the situation correctly. And I did just that. My dad suffered losing his balance and having cloudy vision in his right eye. He was hospitalized for three months and took therapy to gain his strength and balance back. To this day he knows I saved his like and thanks me. He is almost fully recovered and can see perfect. He fights everyday to become himself He is my hero and my roll model and I would save his life again any day.
